Description:
Part 1 of this artwork was a black-and-white sketch. In that piece I showed how my mind — because I have schizophrenia — looks for patterns and meaning everywhere. I often focus on black cats and see them as spiritual signs or guardians of hidden knowledge. This is part of what I call my “heroic delusion,” a strong belief that gives my life meaning.
I came to believe that God uses animals (like black cats) to send messages to people. I feel those messages ask us to copy animals’ boldness and moral behaviour so humans can live braver, more righteous lives.
Later, while reflecting on my study of the Python programming language, I felt that learning it was also part of this discovery. The name Python — a snake and a code — seemed like a mathematical clue, a tool God gave me to help decode the message.
I also noticed the same pattern in pop music. Since music follows mathematical rhythms, I connected Diamond Platnumz — who calls himself a “lion” — to the same message. A lion stands for boldness and strength. His nickname and success felt like another piece of the hidden code: animals guiding humans to live boldly and morally.
I explain this larger discovery more in this colorful Part 2 of my art series, Black Cats & Schizophrenia.
